Overview

Salvager sends SMS text messages to notify users of real-time activity on their listings and bids. Messages are sent only to users who have explicitly opted in inside the app. Consent is separate from account creation and is entirely optional.

How to Opt In

New account — during signup

Download the Salvager app and start the signup process.

Fill in your details, including your phone number.

Check the box labeled "I agree to receive SMS messages from Salvager". This is a separate, optional checkbox — leaving it unchecked will not block you from creating an account.

Continue and complete phone verification.

Existing account — in the app

Open the Salvager app and log in to your account.

Tap Profile in the bottom navigation bar.

Tap "I agree — turn on SMS" on the consent banner at the top of your Profile, or scroll to SMS Notifications and toggle it on.

Confirm your phone number is saved under Personal Info.

iOS — Signup flow

The SMS consent checkbox is unchecked by default. Users must actively check it to opt in. Leaving it unchecked does not block account creation.

Android — In-app consent & full app flow

Existing users who have not yet opted in see an "Action needed: Confirm SMS consent" banner on their Profile screen with an explicit "I agree — turn on SMS" button.

What You'll Receive

Account verification codes (one-time passcodes during signup) are transactional and may be sent regardless of SMS notification consent.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on activity in the marketplace. Most users receive between 1 and 10 messages per month. Message and data rates may apply.

Consent Language

To opt out at any time: Reply STOP to any Salvager text message, or toggle SMS Notifications off in your app Profile. You will receive one final confirmation message and no further texts will be sent.
